Farmers Trained in Home Garden Preparation at Barawakubuka under Food Security Project

A capacity-building training program on home garden preparation was held on 27 June 2025 in Barawakubuka, Hambantota, as part of the Food Security Project. The event aimed to strengthen the knowledge and skills of local farmers in establishing sustainable and productive home gardens.

Community-Based Organization (CBO) members actively participated in the training, which covered essential topics such as site selection, soil preparation, planting methods, and maintenance techniques tailored to local conditions. Emphasis was placed on low-cost, eco-friendly practices to enhance household food production and improve nutrition.

The training was facilitated by Mr. Yasalal and Mr. Chandrasena, who provided practical demonstrations and technical guidance. This initiative supports broader efforts to improve food security, promote self-sufficiency, and build resilience among farming communities in the Hambantota District.
