Who we are…
Caritas SED Galle (CSG) is the Diocesan Centre for Social Economic and Development of the Catholic Diocese of Galle in the Southern Province of Sri Lanka. CSG is a member of Caritas Sri Lanka – SEDEC working together to build a better world and as such it is committed to promote the integral human development of the human person. CSG is registered as a Charitable Organization, working under the Commission of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Sri Lanka and incorporated by the Act of Parliament, No. 17 of 1983.
CSG is an expression of the concern of the Catholic Church (Diocese of Galle) in the Southern Province of Sri Lanka, for Justice, Peace and Human Development. Its mission in the social field is based on the Gospel values and universal solidarity towards all the members of the society irrespective of religion or ethnicity.
Our Mission is “To Organize and Empower the Marginalized and the Underprivileged people in the diocese of Galle, irrespective of Race and Religion”.
Through the services of CSG, the Catholic Church expresses its commitment to uplift the needy and the marginalized, to create awareness for their self-improvement and to promote peace and harmony among people of all Faith & Ethnicity. We serve among the marginalized & underprivileged communities of village, plantation, fishing & urban sectors in the Sothern Province of Sri Lanka. CSG is capacitated with a committed and qualified staff along with a coordinated body of Volunteers, Religious and Community Leaders.
We have been involved in projects such as Peace and Reconciliation, Protection of Human Rights, Child Protection and Water and Sanitation for the underprivileged and vulnerable people in both Villages and Plantation, in close collaboration with Government Agencies, Non-governmental Organizations and the Private Sector.
We very much work with other like-minded groups for the building of a better Sri Lanka where peace and harmony will prevail among all members of the Sri Lankan society.
