Training Empowers PWD Families in Welipitiya Division with Sustainable Agricultural Techniques

A training program on sustainable agricultural techniques was successfully conducted for 16 families of persons with disabilities (PWDs) in the Welipitiya Division under the Food Security Project. The initiative aimed to build the capacity of PWD families by equipping them with practical, sustainable farming skills to improve food production and household nutrition.

The session was led by Mr. Indika Priyadarshana and Mrs. Chamila Priyadarshani, both Agricultural Research and Production Assistants, who delivered technical training tailored to local conditions. Mrs. Shyamali, Development Officer for Social Services, provided additional support and guidance on inclusive development practices.

Field Officer Ms. P.N.S. Fernando and volunteer Ms. Ramani also contributed to the program, ensuring hands-on learning and personalized assistance for participants. This training reflects the Food Security Project’s commitment to promoting inclusive and sustainable agriculture, empowering vulnerable communities, and strengthening local food systems.
