District Federation Formation and Strengthening Held in Hambantota

A program focused on the formation and strengthening of District Federations took place in Hambantota on May 30, 2025. The program was coordinated by Mr. Idunil, with the participation of Mr. Yasalal Priyantha (Field Officer) and Mr. Chandrasena (Volunteer).
A training session on Gender Sensitization and Equality Development was conducted in Beralaliya, Welipitiya, Matara District. The training was led by Mrs. Kanchana Mapalagama, a National Level Resource Person from the Development Officer division of the Ministry of Child Development and Women’s Affairs. Also in attendance were Mrs. Wasanthi from Agricultural Research and Production Assistance, Ms. Nayanathara, a Field Officer, and Ms. Ramani, a Volunteer. The event was organized by the Caritas SED Galle Food Security Project.
Conducting Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA) and preparation of the Village Development Plan.
In 2011, a training programme on livestock production was conducted by Mrs. A.L.F. Farvin (Veterinary Surgeon) and Mr. Tharindu W. (Livestock Development Officer).
Caritas SED Galle distributed poultry chicks to 13 members of Community-Based Organizations (CBOs) in the Welipitiya Division of the Matara District.
A ceremony was held on 27th May 2025 to distribute chicks to CBO members from Hiniduma, Thunhiripana, and Holuwagoda under the Food Security Program titled “Improving Rural Livelihoods, Enhancing Food Security, and Building Resilience in Sri Lanka.”
