Capacity Building Training on Sustainable Agricultural Practices for Youth in Denipitiya West, Matara

A Capacity Building Training on Sustainable Agricultural Practices was successfully conducted for the Denipitiya West Youth Group in Welipitiya, Matara, on 30th July 2025 under the Food Security Programme. The training aimed to inspire and educate young people on eco-friendly farming methods, encouraging them to become active contributors to sustainable agriculture.

The session was enriched by the participation of several key officials and community leaders:

  • Mr. Indika Priyadarshana – Agriculture Research & Production Assistant

  • Mrs. Chathurika Dilrukshi – Grama Niladhari

  • Ms. Nayanathara – Field Officer

  • Ms. Ramani – Volunteer

  • Mrs. Dilhani – In charge of the Youth Group

The programme was attended by enthusiastic youths along with their parents, creating an interactive learning environment that promoted knowledge sharing and practical exposure.

This initiative highlighted the importance of empowering youth to adopt sustainable agricultural practices, ensuring long-term food security and community development in the region.
