A Training Program on Food Preservation Techniques and Value-Added Food Production was successfully conducted on October 24, 2025, at Athapaththugama, Hambantota, under the Food Security Project. The program brought together participants from Athapaththugama and Meda Ara to enhance their knowledge and skills in sustainable food processing and income generation.
The session was conducted by Ms. Aruni Gunarathne, Agriculture Instructor from the Agrarian Centre, Angunakolapalassa, who provided hands-on training on methods such as drying, bottling, and preparing value-added food products to reduce post-harvest losses and increase household income.
The event was coordinated by Mr. Yasalal Priyantha, Field Officer, with the support of Mr. A. J. Chandrasena, Volunteer. Participants actively engaged in practical demonstrations and discussions, gaining valuable insights into small-scale entrepreneurship and food safety practices.
This initiative marks another successful step in empowering rural families to achieve greater food security and economic resilience through sustainable and innovative food production methods.
