School Program Promotes Sustainable Agriculture Awareness Among Students in Welipitiya

A special Programme on Sustainable Agriculture Techniques was successfully conducted at Watagedaramulla School, Welipitiya, under the Food Security Project. The initiative aimed to educate school children on environmentally friendly and sustainable farming practices, fostering awareness and responsibility toward food security from a young age.

The program was led by Mr. Indika, Agriculture Research and Production Assistant Officer, with the active support of the Field Officer and a Volunteer. Through interactive sessions and demonstrations, students learned about soil conservation, organic composting, water management, and the importance of protecting natural resources for future generations.

This initiative highlights the project’s commitment to nurturing a new generation of environmentally conscious citizens who value sustainable agriculture as a foundation for community well-being and national food security.
