On-Farm Trials and Action Research Program Strengthen Farmer Knowledge in Welipitiya

An On-Farm Trials and Action Research Program was successfully conducted on October 16, 2025, in Welipitiya, Matara, under the Food Security Project. The program aimed to help farmers enhance their agricultural practices through hands-on experimentation and participatory learning.

The initiative was facilitated by Mr. I. Priyadarshana, Field Officer, together with a dedicated volunteer, who guided farmers in testing improved crop management techniques and sustainable cultivation methods suited to local conditions.

Through this program, farmers were encouraged to observe, record, and analyze the outcomes of their field activities — promoting innovation and practical problem-solving within their own farms.

This activity reflects the ongoing commitment of the Food Security Project to empower farming communities with knowledge, skills, and confidence to achieve long-term agricultural sustainability and resilience.
