In July 2025, essential equipment was provided to support garden development at the V.K.C Center in Mada Ara and the Demonstration Farm in Jadura, Hambantota. This initiative aims to enhance local agricultural practices and promote sustainable food production within the community.

The equipment distribution will enable better preparation and maintenance of home gardens and demonstration plots, allowing farmers and community members to apply effective gardening techniques. The provision is part of ongoing efforts under the Food Security Project to strengthen food self-sufficiency and improve nutrition among rural households.

By equipping these centers with necessary tools, the project supports hands-on learning and demonstration activities, empowering farmers to adopt innovative and sustainable agricultural methods. This intervention is expected to contribute significantly to the resilience and productivity of local food systems in Hambantota District.
