A Training on Climate Change Adaptation and Disaster Preparedness for Small Farmers was held for the Community-Based Organization (CBO) members of Mada Ara, Hambantota, on the afternoon of 13th August 2025. The programme also included a Crop Clinic session to address agricultural issues and provide technical guidance to farmers.
The session was conducted by resource person Mr. Gunawardana, Agronomist, who shared valuable knowledge on managing climate-related risks, improving resilience, and adopting sustainable farming techniques. Farmers also had the opportunity to seek advice on crop-related challenges during the clinic.
The programme was organized with the support of Caritas SED Galle staff, including Field Officer Mr. Yasalal Priyantha and Volunteer Mr. A. J. Chandrasena, who facilitated active community participation.
This initiative strengthened the capacity of local farmers to adapt to climate change, enhance food security, and safeguard their livelihoods.
