A special training program on beekeeping was conducted on 16th September 2025 under the Food Security Initiative at Holuwagoda Sithamu Prarthana, Thunhiripana Gewathusamuhaya in Galle. The program engaged members of the Community-Based Organization (CBO) along with youth participants from the area.
A programme on Pest and Disease Management Practices in Home Garden Crops was conducted for the members of the Holuwagoda Sithamu Prarthana Community-Based Organization (CBO) in Galle on 10th September 2025 under the Food Security initiative. The session was facilitated by Mr. Madanayaka (Development Officer), Mr. Anil Soisa (Assistant, Agricultural Research & Production), Mr. Gunawardana (Agronomist), and Mrs. K. P. N. Kumari (Field Officer). The training focused on equipping participants with practical knowledge to effectively manage pests and diseases in home garden crops, thereby improving productivity and food security.
A training programme on Nutrition for Mothers and Preschool Garden Preparation was conducted at Little Kids Preschool, Debokkawa, Hambantota, on 19th September 2025. The programme was attended by preschool teachers and mothers, with the sessions facilitated by Mr. Yasalal Priyantha (Field Officer) and Mr. A. J. Chandrasena (Volunteer). The training aimed to promote healthy nutritional practices among families and encourage the establishment of home and preschool gardens for improved child well-being.
A training programme on Entrepreneurship Development, Market Orientation, Marketing of Agricultural Products, and Business Planning was held for the members of the Daha Amuna Community-Based Organization (CBO) in Hambantota on the afternoon of 18th September 2025. The sessions were conducted by Mr. Gunawardana (Agronomist), Mr. Yasalal Priyantha (Field Officer), and Mr. A. J. Chandrasena (Volunteer). The programme focused on strengthening the entrepreneurial capacity of participants and equipping them with practical knowledge to improve agricultural marketing and business planning.
