Plant pots containing vegetable crops such as eggplant, capsicum, chili, and tomato were distributed to selected communities in the Welipitiya area of Matara District. The beneficiaries included four Community-Based Organizations (CBOs) from Beralaliya, Munamalpe, Kammalgoda, and Udukawa South.
This initiative, implemented under the Food Security program, aims to encourage home gardening, improve nutritional intake, and reduce reliance on market-purchased vegetables. By empowering families to grow their own produce, the program contributes to both economic savings and environmental sustainability, while fostering a culture of self-reliance in food production.
