Feeding Programme by the Sisters of Missionaries of Charity

Caritas SED Galle recently distributed essential items including dry rations to 200 very poor and vulnerable families with the intervention of the Sisters of Missionaries of Charity.

It was a loving concern shown by Sisters of Missionaries of Charity towards each and every person especially elderly and those who are in need especially affected by the present economic crisis in Sri Lanka.

These Reverent Sisters identified the most poor and vulnerable and reached out to them as a gesture of love, affection and closeness to the poor. The families identified were from Talgaswela, Pitiwala, Ahangama, Kitulampitiya,Talgampala,Udugama, Nakiyadeniya, Hulandawa and Pitabedda areas.

Therefore the the support given by Sisters of Missionaries of Charity was a blessing to poor and vulnerable families to reduce their suffering to some extent as it is reported that two in three families in Sri Lanka do not have enough to eat, according to a survey by Save the Children, which warned the country’s economic crisis is rapidly becoming a full-blown humanitarian emergency.
