Commemoration of World Food Day – 16th October 2022 (Report)

Food Production

The World Food Day which fell on 16th October 2022 added significance to Sri Lanka this year as it faces an acute food crisis. The World Food Progrmmme has said that 6.3 million people or over 30 per cent of Sri Lanka’s population are  “food insecure”and require humanitarian assistance. In the meantime  the United Nations has issued an international appeal to help Sri Lanka overcome the present food crisis.

Peace - A wheel chair was donated to an ailing mother of  Weligama Dhammadinna  Buddhist Meheni (Female Buddhist Monk)  by Rev Fr Lasantha Fonseka  (Director of Caritas SED Galle) and Venerable  Pinikahane Samitha Thero  (Incumbent  Chief Buddhist Priest of Vidyaloka Buddhist Temple)  on 31st October 2022

Distribution of Dry Rations, Education and Medical Assistance Under CSL DRR Plan –Enhancing the Resilience of the Victims of the Economic Crisis in Sri Lanka (Report)
DRR - During the period from 1st June to 30th September 2022, Caritas SED Galle with the support of Caritas Sri Lanka distributed dry rations, education and medical assistance to most vulnerable communities, poor and vulnerable Parishioners in 17 parishes, elderly, disable and persons suffering from various ailments and children who needed educational assistance.
